About Us
MTGBR Teachers are a tightly-knit group of music professionals. Many of us consistently perform or are church musicians. We frequently collaborate by accompanying each other or performing in piano ensembles. We encourage our students to 'use' their music - whether to challenge them to becoming music majors/minors, church musicians, or composing and possibly publishing their own works. We strive to make our students truly ENJOY making music.
Although this is what we do for a living, "Being a musician is not a job-- it's a way of life."

Why Should We Become Members?
MTGBR is a local chapter of NFMC, founded in 1924. All our members belong to Federation. Our local Festivals have provided students with a low-pressure format to learn how to perform since 1950, utilizing a system that increasingly challenges students musically. It is quite humbling to realize our organization has been in existence for almost 100 years!
NFMC was the first organization to present Van Cliburn in concert.
John Philip Sousa owes being in the Musicians Hall of Fame to the tireless efforts of NFMC members. |
The primary goal of NFMC is to champion AMERICAN music with awards and commissions, promoting American music, composers & performers. Its multitude of scholarships have helped many on their 'musical journey.'
